I just got the AC put back on my 85 k5 blazer and it works great. Now when the air is on the truck runs hot. In the morning on the way to work it stays about 180-190, after work when its is hot outside it runs 210-230. The truck had AC before just did not work. Did not overheat before the AC. I have a new 180 deg themostat in it, new radiator cap and proper mix in radiator. Thinking about replacing the fan clutch next. Any ideas?

When does it overheat? Ideling at a light or when driving the freeway? I would also look at flushing the engine and perhaps have a radiator shop check the radiator for blockage. With the A/C your putting a heavier load on the motor now, but it still should run cooler than what your saying.

Both. It has a new crate motor and never had a problem overheating until i put the ac on.

I just put an new Flowkooler water pump on my 1980 2wd Blazer. Runs much cooler, especially at idle, it flows 100% at idle. Ordered from Summit Racing for $75.00. Part #1773 for vbelts and 1774 for serp belts for 305 and 350 motors. Check out www.flowkooler.com

Now with the AC working, you have added more heat. More heat from the engine working a bit harder and more heat from that extra radiator for the AC unit so now you are sucking in hotter air through the radiator then without the AC.

Have the radiator checked if this hasn't been done so already. Eyegore has the right idea.

If you turn off the a/c when it heats up does the engine temperature start cooling down or does it stay hot?

When I turn the A/C off it starts to cool down.
