'66 C20 questions

My son has inherited a 66 C20 LWB cab and chassis from his grandfather. It's got the 327 and the 4 speed. We have 3 years to rebuild until he wants to be driving it, but I need some guidance. We know we want disc brakes, PS, and 5 lugs.

What year boxes will fit this rig?
What drivetrain combination will provide good performance and mileage? We want to keep the 327.

Thanks. We've been reading alot here lately!!
