72 burb with rear coil suspension?

I have owned a lot of suburbans thru the last 25 years. None of them more than drivers, some less but I thought they all were leaf springs. The one I bought out in Tucson, still trying to get it back, has coils. I was out there last week to fix a couple of flats so it could be shipped. Noticed the coils.........rare , different or just an option, 1/2 ton by the way
Thanks,
Steve

I'm pretty sure coils in the back are not rare. My '71 C20 has coils. So does my dad's '72 C10.

on contrary

Most all I have seen have been coil versions. 4x4's of course were leaf rears. In the 67-72 burbs I have yet to witness a rear leaf spring model (2 wheelers). Don't doubt they were built as pickups had the option. We have seen many burbs on west coast over the years too.

Most pre 73 2wd burbs were coil weather they were 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton. Leaf spring 2wd burbs are rare, but all 4x4 suburbans were leaf spring.

I have never seen a 2wd leaf burb in person or pictures. I imagine they probably exist, but they would be pretty rare.

I have never seen a leaf sprung 2wd suburban in the 67-72 vintage. All have been coils.

Leaf springs were options

71 and 72 Burbs 2WD 1/2 tons. My 71 GMC Burb 2WD lists this option on the glove box door. If I weren't overseas I'd snap a photo fer ya. Trust me, they were an optioned item. It reads Code# (I forget what th e# is) "Leaf spring conversion"
