1970 grill ????
Is it possible to strip the chrome off the grill and powder coat it? If so, which I assume it would not be a problem. Has anyone tried it and what was the ballpark cost? I'm pretty sure that is what I am going to do that with mine but it is still up in the air. pics and tips would be great.

OE grills are aluminum aren't they? Not sure it will work, I am no expert
by any means, If I remember correctly, they are just highly polished to make it look like they have been chromed, anyone else wanna jump in?

Yup, bright coated aluminum - no chrome. Should be no problem to paint any way you like.

It's made of anodized aluminum. If you want to clean it up there are plenty of threads on here on how to strip it down and make it shiny again. You just have more upkeep on it.

Spray oven cleaner on it, leave on for about 15 minutes then wash off. Use gloves and mask since this stuff is strong! This will remove the current protective(clear) coating.
