Unhappy Best paint to restore truck ralley's????

I just picked up a set of mid 80's 5 on 5 steel ralley's for my 72' Burb. I want to refinish them and don't have the $$$ to powdercoat them. I had used Rustoleum "Metalics" silver before on my 88' K2500's ralleys and they looked good. My dad redid the ralley's on his 87 C10 swb and they looked good too but then the paint started cracking like china glass and it is flaking off in sheets now. Rims were blasted, primed, painted & cleared. I don't want the same thing to happen to mine so what are you guys using that you have had good luck with????

Thanks!
Joe

I have not used it, but the argent silver wheel paint from www.eastwood.com has been recommended here in the past.

O'reilly's had a ceramic wheel paint in just about the right color that does a good job, too. I am pretty sure it was from Duplicolor.

I just painted two sets of ralleys with Case/IH silver tractor paint and they look great. My uncle painted the rims on a Farmall M several years ago, and the paint still looks great after sitting the whole time outside. My rims were bead blasted and primed with self etching primer. I think my uncle did the same.

I used duplicolor silver rim paint on mine and they're fairing well I can check on the can what exact type it is if you like, wasn't too expensive either all I did was sand em down prime then put that on.

I used the same. I also put on Duplicolor Wheel Clearcoat over the silver.

That is where I got mine and it is a perfect match to OE. Good stuff. Eastwood sells good products. I know you would be pleased with the results.

Make sure you also get the "wheel clear" to put over the paint. This is recommended. Eastwood also sells this.
