What i've been up to over the last week
Howdy, i've been pretty absent over the last week or so, and this is why. I picked up a 72 short step last week, no engine or tranny, but came with a pretty good cab/clip, so this is the photo-story of the stripdown, and the rebuild with the goodwrench 350 crate that i had laying around.
the truck as I got it the extra cab after a 2 hr teardown and a bit of cleanup engine gettin ready to go in engine/tranny are in dropped the cab on... front clip going back together after a quick wire brushing/spray bombing more front clip progress (next time I think I will put doors on BEFORE the front clip grill on interior in kind of a jump to the next pics cause my camera batteries got STOLEN... but today me and a friend got the doors hung, hood on, bed on, and the wheels on, the truck DRIVES now, open headers really CAN be heard from a mile away. lol Well thats all the pics for now, hope you guys have enjoyed my little project. The body is a bit rough still, needs a good sanding/priming, and some dent work, one corner is bad, and the bed needs a bit of work. All the panels need some adjusting too, they're pretty much all just roughed in there for now (I swear these doors werent made for the door openings lol). But its together and driving for now, so i'm happy. The suspension and the brakes were just rebuilt, so it cruises, rides, and stops really nice. Just need an exhaust system, and mount the rear bumper I got from pickmups, and i'll be set to daily drive this thing. Ciao!

Nice job...I swear, I thought my truck was a mismatch of colors...LOL!
I'm confused though. I thought you said it had a good cab and front clip yet they are laying in the weeds! It looks like you only used the bed and frame...what's up?

Thanks for the compliments guys, yes those are cragar SS's, and yes I stole them off the 71 restoration for a few days
The Green cab and clip were bad, but part of the deal was that it came with the orange cab/clip, which while they are basically rust free, had a few problems over the years, someone tried to fill the trim holes with a body filler, and they hicked the cab on another truck so that the bedsides would scrape the back of the cab, they just bondo'd those dents too. Someone also cut the hump out of the orange cab to try to graft in a high hump, and lost interest, so I had to cut the hump out of the green cab, and weld it in the orange cab... work work work Now I need to go clean up the shop, its just a tad messy from all this!

Motivation. Cool. It is nice to see your truck coming together so fast. Wish I could say the same for mine. Kerry
