Hood Latch Problem

I have a 77' and I just recieved a billet grill from 4 wheel parts (cheap and was in great shape) it fits no problem but my hood opens from the outside and i cannot reach through the grill slots, so i was wondering if there is a kit that i can get to be able to pop the hood from the inside like the newer trucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You have a couple of options. On my 73 with the same problem, I used a hood prop rod off of something in the pick a part. I mounted teh hinge end on the hood release, ran it through the two bolts that hole the valence under the grille, and welded a handle on it. You can also locate the inside hood release off of another truck and use that. You need the cable, center brace, hood latch and striker, and the top panel of the radiator support. They were available in 79 and 80 for sure, maybe 77 and 78. I found the stuff I used on my Blazer at the pick a part for about $15.

Yeah I have the latch mechanism in my for sale thread. I don't have the cable that would run into the cab though.

I'm going to have a stock cable and T handle available soon. Let me know if you can't find one locally....
