Have any of you used these or this type header bolt? They are not giving them away but they look like an solution to future 'head to flange' leaks.

In the past I used 12 point bolts (Big Block Intake Bolts) with shoulder lock washers that provided excellent service.

Try "stage 8" Locking Header Bolts. I Started Using These About 10 Years Ago & Wouldn't Consider Using Headers Without These. They Are About $35 A Set From Summit, & Worth Every Penny. & They Are Stainless.

I have to agree with John here. Also through in a set of copper gaskets. These two together are the best thing since sliced bread!

I guess I'm cheap. Just cut the flanges and you won't have bolts coming loose. I use stainless header bolts and you can't tighten them very much at all. They stay tight. I don't even check them anymore. I also use manifold gaskets. (7 bucks).

BTW here's a pic of the aftermath of cut flanges.

I also am sold on Stage8 fasteners. The little fingers lock on the bolt heads and serve to hit the header pipe if the bolt starts to loosen. So, not only do they stop bolts from loosening, but if you see one of the fingers/side extentions touching a pipe, then you know the bolt loosened some and needs retorkin'.

Of course, I use them on manifolds to the same effect. No headers here.

Anybody use the ones that have the set screw going down the center of the bolt..after tightening the header bolt to the desired torque...the center set screw spreads the end of the threads out to "prevent" it from loosing. I think these go for around $50 bucks for a set. Would like to hear some experience if anybody can comment. Thx

the link on the first post will take you there. they look very clean and must do the job but the Stage 8 has a good following and reputation amongst the Board members.

I have this set up on my vette with headers and it has not leaked in over a year with about 2000 miles of driving. I use the dead soft aluminum header gaskets.
