Ok. Someone out there must know a way or a tool that will remove these things without damaging the cowl. PLEASE SHARE...

I use a small crowbar wrapped in a towel. Dont forget to push in the tab before you pull!

I was having this same problem earlier and go a response but I don't think I followed all that well. So I brought pictures this time. First, which way does the little clip underneath the arm go? See picture below:

And here is an aerial view of what I am talking about:

Now, I know the pics aren't great but I was hoping they would help anyone willing to help understand what I was trying to do.

Second, once you get the clip adjusted do you have to keep holding onto it in that direction while pulling the arm off or just pull the arm off? Thanks to any help in advance.

P.S. Stocker, is the tool just the best way to go? I'd rather not spend $20 after shipping for a tool I will only use a couple of times.

I USE THE K-D WIPER REMOVAL TOOL ALSO. IT SAFELY REMOVES WIPER ARMS IN 2 SECONDS WITHOUT THE USE OF TOWELLS,RAGS,CLAW HAMMERS, PRYBARS, WD-40, PLIERS, CHANNEL LOCKS OR PIPE WRENCHES. JOHN (& THEY ARE LESS THAN $10 AT MY LOCAL NAPA)

Thanks Matt, I was trying to pry that little thing down. Obviously which much more success cussing than getting it off.

no problem, good luck later, they can be tight. maybe spray some rust eater, penetrating fluid on the shaft.

It has worked well for me, and like John, I paid less than $10 for mine. Any parts store should have them. I only posted that to show what they look like.

I drilled a small hole below the pivot hole and just under where the arm is when raised. I now just raise the arm, drop a nail/paperclip/whatever through the hole and it holds the arm up. Now you can easily work the little tab that holds the thing on the shaft.
