on my rear diffeential, i have this plug under the half way point, then on top i have this 3/8 inche fitting, that opens up into the rear diff, nothing covering it, it was packed up with grease. i am thinking that is where i add fluid, but havent seen anything like that before, was wondering if anyone else had, it is on the top to the passengers side, pointing up. its about 1/2 inch long, was guessiiing one of the previous owners broke the plug or something and put that in to make it easier to add fluid. thanks harry

The plug on the side is where you add oil--fill to bottom of hole. The deal on top is the vent for the rear gear case--it should have a hose attached to it and affixed to the bed. This keeps water from entering the case when driving in the rain or thru deep water. Hope this helps.

in that case then i guess the only way to drain it would be to take the diff cover off? to bad the plug is all busted up, i cant get a goodgrip on it. oh well, looks like ill have to figure something out thanks harry
