Leaf Spring Info Please
I have a 1969 leaf sprung rear GMC 1/2 ton pickup. What year pickups have the same rear leaf springs? Thanks in advance for any information. Jim

to make a short story long. GMC came stock with rear leafs and a rear coil option. Chevy came with rear coils and a rear leaf option.

67-72 are 2.25"
73> are 2.5" Check to see how many leafs you want. There are 8 leaf springs and 5 leaf springs. In a junkyard I have seen an additional load handling spring mounted on top of the rear leaf spring. Not sure if this was stock or not.

look closer. I know the 1972 does not have a Pickup link but some of the others do. The last page of the 1970 Pickup link has Pickup specifications. This is what he most likely was referring to. Plus it is neat to see the original advertising. Heck split pages are still used in todays advertising.

Interchange reads leaf sprung 69-72 are usually interchangable if wheelbase are the same.
Quote: "4 leaves. 69-72 C-10 and 1500 GMC truck (except heavy duty option). Next: 5 leaves. 69-72 C-10 and 1500 GMC truck with heavy duty option; 69-72 C-20 and 2500GMC truck with 127 inch wheelbase with standard duty leaf springs." Hope this helps. The interchange is clear as mud. It is clear that all the rear COIL springs are interchangable. Like that helps. |
