Exhaust question
I'm trying to find out what kind of exhaust system to put on my truck. I have a 350 w/350turbo and Hedmen Headers, mild cam and ported head work. I'm wanting duals straight back and exit at the back of the rear tires. I believe that is the stock location. What I'm trying for, is the exhaust to have that tinny sound at low idle and a nice throaty sound going down the road. I don't want this too loud or sounding like a "Moon Shine Runner's" car from down south, {nothing against the South }. Someone told me that using Flowmasters and aluminized pipe give that tinny sound I'm lloking for. Also will 2 1/4" piping be a good choice?

That's how some people describe "that flowmaster sound". TINNY.

if you like to keep the noise down a bit, you might look at a set of 50's flows(3 chamber). I tried the 40's , & didnt like them, they were too loud on the hyway, with that annoying drown. I switched to the 50's, & they sound nice with 2 1/2 " pipe/H pipe. 2 1/4 would be plenty on pipe size on a mild 355....you can get by with 2 1/2, but I wouldnt go any bigger(bigger is louder!) mine run straight out the back, not loud enough to be a "cop caller", but can be heard when standing on the loud peddle ......69L

remember this delta flow is quieter, so when you go for your 40 series mufflers, yes you will, don't get delta flow. also 2" will work but 2 1/4" is always better, 2 1/2" is too much.

The Delta flows are said to be quieter? I have the old 50's flows , so I cant say for sure. mine do still have that flowmaster "tin sound" @ idle, but imo a better sound than the original 40's flows when you stand on it......not quite as loud, but very throaty we have all heard way too much of that "Rustang" with the 40's flows....he!! , we all have a belly button , right? crazyL
