What tool makes unbolting the torque converter from the flexplate easiest?

Just as the subject states, unbolting the torque converter from the flexplate is tough for me. I can't get a 3/8 socket/ratchet between the block and flexplate to get to the bolt. and the bolts seem to be a bit recessed towards the tranny on my 283/th-400 so I can't get a good grip with a combo wrench.

What do you all use?

Also, on my turbo 400 there is one orange/black wire coming out of it from a plug on the tranny. It went to nowhere, should it go somewhere?

Thanks!

Well as far as the bolts go, I used craftsman 6 point wrench to get mine. Same type tranny...
As far as the wire, it should be wired to a kickdown switch, that controls the downshifting electroniclly(th400 only). I bet it wasn't downshifting was it? It definitley should go somewhere

I use a wrench on the back, and a socket on the front.
Notice though, many times there will be 15 mm on there instead of 9/16.

ratcheting wrenches are awesome, hardly use regular ratchet and socket for most stuff anymore.

yeah i got a set of craftman racheting wrenchs, they are awsome but they dont got that power that a rachet has...it all depends on application i guess.

Well I was trying a combo wrench from the top of the block/tranny...... now realizing that there is an opening on the bottom sides of the block to get a socket on there. Thanks though!

Still does anyone know where that wires go? And my tranny does kickdown... but not alot. Only when the rpms are very low in 2nd or 3rd.
