hey guys.

I would like to lift my 2wd camper special - just in the front. The rear has like 9 leafs on each side... (I believe from the factory??"... so Im basically wanting to level it out.

I was wondering if I just swapped the springs (in the front) for 3/4 ton big block springs if this would give me the extra 2 or three inches Im looking for....

what do you guys thinK? would it make the ride to bouncy??

another question- can I use the same control arms w/ big block springs??

It may already have the equivalent of Big Block springs in the front if it came from the factory as a Camper Special. 1-ton springs may help a little but I don't think you'll get quite as much lift as you're looking for but maybe it will be enough to make it look a little more balanced. The control arms should work fine with the heavier springs, at least I know the big block springs will, I've never swapped 1-ton springs into anything.....yet.

Hmm... I dont know of any 2wd lift kits for a 72.....

I'm sorry, is the camper special a BB or a SB?? I have a 1971 custom deluxe 20 w/ a sb 383 crate motor. I installed rancho springs for a 1973-1987 chevy truck. (basically its the same as bb springs) The front suspension was riding at the upper bump stop with virtually no rebound. I have since removed the stock bump stop, installed a shorter one, added a upper ball joint spacer and mounted the upper ball joint under the uca. Now I have about 2 inches of rebound. My dad has a 1972 chevy 3/4 ton w/ a BB chevy. He has 1 ton springs in the front and sits 1-2 inches lower than I do.

I didnt know I could swap w/ parts up to 87... If I can do that, I could probley find a lift package easy...

You can use 73-87 Suspension items on 67-72 Trucks but you must do as following:

Must use:

Upper and Lower Control Arms 73-87
Shafts must use from 73-87
Spindles from 73-87
Ball joints must match Spindles
Must use outter tie rod from 73-87
Must use inner tie rod from 67-72

I'm in the process of Building a different front end for my 72 GMC C-1500. I'm using the above items on a 73-87 crossmember with all new Moog parts, 3'' lift Springs from FabTech, all new Disc brake items, and braided brake lines. I have part #'s from the items I'm using if you want them.
