Need help with tailgate
Our tailgate on our 1970 Blazer is bent. We need to replace it but we're thinking it's not even the right one. Anyone have a picture of an original 70 tailgate for the Blazer?
Thanks. |

Any pickup or Blazer tailgate will work.
There is a trim type piece on the top of the inside of the tailgate that screw on, but it can be put onto a truck tailgate too. I will take a picture when I get home if I remember. Shawn

Here are pictures. The second and third give you an idea of the shape. I think this is original, but to be honest I have only seen two, and the other one was rusted beyond recognition. Can anyone back up that this is original?

That's an original. As far as the tailgate any 67-72 fleetside gate will fit. If you don't have it, you'll also need the piece of weather stripping that goes between the trim piece and the gate. If you do use a truck gate and put the trim piece on, be careful not to over tighten the screws that hold the trim on- I made that mistake on mine and now it leaks water.

Thanks... we know that ours is not the original now and since it's bent we need a new one anyway so that will help us with our purchase.
