2 Questions from Proud New Owner

1) I was driving last night and noticed a small red rectangle shaped light inside the Speedo (towards the top). I don't have an owner's manual so I'm not sure what it is. Can anyone help?

2) The truck has factory air but it doesn't blow very cold. Do you think it's most likely the compressor or something else? It's a remanufactured compressor but the belts are new and it runs quiet (no ticking noises or otherwise).

that is the high beam indicator. Some were round, some were rectangle.

Your A/C, if it is blowing cool-ish, you probably need charged up a bit.

Welcome, you will really like it here.

1) I would also say that is the high beam indicator.

2) If the compressor is short cycling and you are getting not so cold air you are probably low on refrigerant. If the compressor is running normally it could be something obsructing the ducts.

Welcome to the Board from Sacramento CA. You will discover members of this board (me included) like to see pictures of the items in question. Pictures of your new truck would be nice so you can show it off

Wow! Thanks for the greetings and advice.

1) I just checked it out and it's the high beam indicator. I keep putting my foot on it when I'm driving since I'm still getting used to the truck.

2) I'm glad to hear other folks think it might just need a shot of refrigerant as opposed to the compressor. Has anyone tried these R12 substitutes (Freeze 12, etc.)? Any good or should I buck up and try and get a hold of the real deal?

Oh and yes, I'll have some pics to follow.

freeze 12 is like 90% 194A. We normally just dump 194A on top of the R12 at work. It isn't recomended, but we have yet to have one come back complaining.
I have been told (with no documentation or other proof) that Du Pont essentually created the scare to keep ppl buying there product (freeze12) once there original prduct was outlawed (R12).
Again...only what I have heard through the industry.
And with the other things I have heard about DuPont, I believe it myself.
