'72 gmc alignment?

Replaced the bent up crossmember and lower driver side control arm. I've got a coil and 1/2 out of the front end coils. Sits right, aligns right, but the suspension binds up pretty bad in sharp turns. Backing up with a turn is worse. Tires scream just getting into a parking spot. Before I had the crossmember replaced I never had any problems with turning. You alignment guys probably know, don't I have to straighten the crossmember somehow and then align it because of the shorter coils? Seems like this is what was done when I originally lowered the truck a long time ago. Obviously, even though the alignment numbers are good, the shorter coils are screwing up the turn geometry. Would dropped spindles help bring the geometry back to near normal or make it worse? I'm going to break something or at least wear these front tires out pretty quick if I don't do something - just don't know what to do. Thanks.
