hedman headers hitting frame

talked to hedman via email and summit on the phone and they both suggested part number 69096 for ceramic coated headers for my 72 suburban 2wd TH350 with ZZ4 motor.

hedman makes a d-port header I have since found, but they sent me these? the gasket cut off about 20% of the flow.

the header hit the frame on the passenger side, and only a fraction of an inch on the drivers.

the bracket they sold me to fit the factory long pump style A/C doesn't fit.

the header sticks down so low below the frame that if anything hits a bump, the headers are going first! which I guess also means the aluminum heads.

anybody else have any luck. or any suggestions with these headers or recommend somthing else?

I was really dissapointed after spending ALL day trying to get this motor in. was really hoping to fire it up tonight!!!

You might want to check the motor mount on the side the headers are hitting the frame , I had a similiar problem that was a worn motor mount .

just put brand new motor mounts when I put in the new motor. I thought maybe I needed to move the motor around, but there is not enough room on either side to make room for the other.

all I can say is I'm not to impressed with my headman headers either. I have a chevy 400 and they hug the engine so close that all the boots on my malorey wires are cracking or melting. I have 1 cable that I have had to replace 3 times cause it actually melts the wire.

I have hedmans as well, although they are not the ceramic coated variety. After I installed my 350 I found that the headers were contacting the frame on both sides, although much more on the passenger. I ended up just clearancing the frame with the grinder...

i have ceramic coated headmans on my 400 small block. They don't hit the frame (that I can tell) but are very close. I did have to reroute the brake line that shoots toward the rear. I would do as mentioned above and get out the grinder.
