I have one on my 396 (it was formerly on a 350) it has vac advance and two male spades on the right (Ign and Tach). Just be aware your spark plug wires are not compatable from the stock dist to the HEI. I have a spare HEI laying around. If your interested PM.

lose the original resistor wire feeding the points dizzy....
run a new wire from the fuse box to run the hei.....
the old wire only feeds about 10 volts.........
you need full 12 volts for the hei dizzy.....

More info:
"Check NAPA/Belden:
Terminal - 784491
Plastic - 784531
I don't believe this plastic has a latch. Just pinch the sides of the terminal so it fits real tight and you won't need a latch.
For "originality", I think you need a Packard Electric 8911379. One of the Chevelle wiring builders should be able to supply or go the junkyard route.
To remove plastic from terminal insert a small screwdriver into the small notch on the business end of the plastic, then pull on the wire."

and
"GM sells a connector replacement pack that includes the tach and power lead for an HEI distributor. The AC Delco part number is 12167658."

Just thought I would repost this info for someone else searching for the same stuff.

Hei

I just did this upgrade and followed the directions in the FAQ's area. I went to the junk yard and pulled a HEI out of a '78 Blazer. Installed it in about an hour and it runs great!
