I was thinking about installing a bed wood kit with chrome strips in place of the plywood. I have a kit that I bought for a truck and don't need anymore, so the Burb's getting it

I saw a Burb on eBay recently with it done. I'll post a pic later. Who else has done this and what advice do you have? I know that with the trucks it's easier with the bed removed, but that's not an option here.

I would only worry about leaking. With the expansion and contraction of the wood I think this might be a problem. If you are going sunny driver only, no problem.

I thought about doing this to mine also but thought there might be too much road noise. An alternative would be to lay down 1/4" plywood and on top of that lay down some bed wood that has been planed down to 1/2" thick. This would keep the noise and the water out. Maybe?

also, strength and rigidity is an issue to consider.

would definitely consider an overlay option

Thanks for the good advice. I'll do the overlay, but maybe use sheetmetal instead of the 1/4" ply. Then I won't have to shave the boards. You guys rock
