rebuilding door hinges on the truck

Can it be done? Gonna take off the new/old doors I just put on and try to drift the pin out. Has anyone done this? If needed I have a torch to put some heat on the barrels that the bushings and pins fit in. I am concerned about the bolt up to the truck, I don't want to knock them too far out and dam* sure don't want to break a stud. Any help is good, Thanks

I just did it on my truck. Very easy. Remove doors from hinges (mark hinge location first) I used a punch smaller than the hinge pin with an air chisel to drive it. Pins come out fairly easily. take out the worn out teflon bushings an drive in the brass bushings. Drive the hinge pins back thru the hinge with the air chisel. Cut the new pins off about 1/8" below the hinge (they are longer than the origional). Bolt the door back on lining up your marks. Adjust if necessary.

Good luck Rick / Ca.

I did it too, with a hammer and punch. Took longer than I expected, as they are in there pretty tight. Don't know if the torch would help or not as the teflon would melt. Might help, might hinder. Jeff.

OK let me tell y'all how it went. It was a BITC*. Top hinge, hit it and all it did was mushroom the pin. Took the hinge off from the truck, put some heat on it after grinding off the mushroom put it in a vice and it drifted out fairly easy. So I thought that the secret was the heat. The bottom hinge I left on the truck, put some heat to it and tried to drift, but since I did not have good clearance to get a good swing, swinging up not down, it laughed at me. So I think no problem I will just take it off the truck like the top hinge and get a good down stroke. First and second bolt came out fine but I noticed on the third that the nut backing plate was moving and if I had taken out the third bolt it would have dropped away inside and NO way to get at it. So bolted it back up and lots of heat and new words that I didn't no I could say it finally came out. Then the line up of the door, but that is another chapter that you will have to write cause every door is a little different. Was it worth it, of course. Was it easy, NO.
