Cupholder

Has anyone done the ashtray to cupholder conversion from Brothers yet?
I am very interested to see how sturdy it is. There was a write up in classic trucks a few months ago. It was very interesting but i have been saving everything extra for my new cab

I passed on it, it would only hold small cups and not my taco bell bladder buster.

I saw one in the Year One catalog too but it was just a insert, didn't fold away. It would work but looked like it would block Heater/A/c controls

Welcome to the Board from Sacramento CA

My buddy Rich (AKA chickenwing) has a ashtray cup holder and he is not extremely happy with it though would be less happy without it.

Rich (are you out there) send some pictures and your thoughts.

I don’t smoke so for me this was a good upgrade. I like it. I didn’t get it from Brothers though. I believe Pickumup sold me this one, Thanks Frank

That's the one I have. It vibrates a bit when you are at speed and it shoots out empty tapered cups. It will not accept the super tanker sodas either. (not an issue for me 'cause I never buy those things)
It could be better (somehow) but it's better than no cup holder at all. Installation was pretty easy.

Thanks guys, Have had the truck for 10 year but haven't worked on it much since after about the first year. So its been sitting and rusting. I am really interested in working on it again. This board looks great and i hope to be a regular contributor here.

I have one installed that I got from Wes. Very easy to install (although I had attempted to make my own first, I ended up buying the one from Wes, and with a modification, it fits in great and works great. Holds a bottle of water just fine. I gave up on the bladder buster cups a long time as those seems to have a direct relationship with the size of my gut. (Read that once I stopped drinking Sodas, I lost 20 pounds over the next three months)

Yeah, I heard the same thing, it won't hold the "big dog" drinks, so it would serve no purpose for me, I'd still be freezing my b#&^s off with it btwn my legs.
