Had my 98 Tahoe at the shop for an engine light and asked them to check the brakes and give me a quote. They came back and said I did need front brakes and my tires rotated. When I picked the truck up after the work they said, 'Oh by the way a lug was broke on the rear so we add a replacement to your bill.' I told them bulls#!t. If it was broken before you worked on it you would have told me when I was given the estimate. I finally got out of them that they broke it with an impact.

DO NOT LET A SHOP USE AN IMPACT ON YOUR LUGS.

I agree whole-heartedly with 72 longbed about specs only for lugs nuts. I cringe anytime I see someone start toward my trucks with a 400 ft. lb Snap-on air impact. I always ask them if they intend to be around with the same impact to take them loose in the field or side of the road when I have a flat and only a 4 way to undo the over-tightend nuts. Don't forget also that there is a reason to criss-cross the pattern when putting the nuts on.
