My carpet in my truck is new but has a faded spot from the sun. Is it possible to dye it? The carpet is black.

I used black Rit dye on the carpeted areas of my 65 SS Impala 10 years ago and they still look good. I did the whole pieces so that it would come out even, (the carpeted areas were really faded).

i dont see why you couldnt dye it as long as you did the whole thing and used the same color hey were bfore. like if ya tried dyeing your black carpet to red it wouldnt work

Had some funky orange color carpet, black dye only turned a nice chocolate brown after 2 bottles. I mixed the dye with HOT water, 2x recommended strength, in a pump up sprayer and sprayed the entire carpet as I knew I was changing colors. I let it sit in the July sun to heat set it best I could. Contrary to speculation, no brown shoes or feet when it got wet. Like the fellow said, complete color change will never happen, but returning black to black should be easy.

spray can vinal dye will work good

Singer (the sewing machine company) makes some dye that is meant for synthetic fibers. I dyed some seat belts with it and it worked well. I couldn't get the RIT dye to stay in the seatbelts. It would just rinse out.
