Question need help for a code ? on a 97 chev. sub no. p1870

any gm mech. got a code book for a 97 chev. sub 1500 w/ a 4 wd
code no p1870 what is it . please help asap dealer want 100.00 to tell me what this code is

p1870 code description is transmission component slipping. I have seen lots of these in 97's on down. Sure the 98's would not be any different. Could be any number of things wrong. The thing that fixes 90 percent of them is a valve in the valvebody. Dealer will try to sell you a $500 valve body. Guy at the trans shop we use repairs our for $200. Ther is a repair kit available for this. Do not know the name of the valve but I can find out if you like. Alway best to get it checked out though. Find a reputable trans shop in your area and take it to them. Good Luck.
