54,55 Rearend/driveline questions
I am currently working on a 52 Panel truck. I would like to convert to an open driveline and retain a relatively stock look with minimum modifications/fabrication. I have been told that 54 and 55 !st trucks had open drivelines. Is this true? If this IS true will one of these rearends(non torque tube) fit under my 52 Panel? I am mainly concerned with total drum to drum width, spring spacing and spring width. Any info regarding this conversion will be greatly appreciated.

Might look for a 70's Camaro, Monte Carlo, or a S-10 4x4, carve all of the extra steel off the rear and place new spring pads where you need them !!
