hei install, lol, i dont beleive it!
i must have put in a dozen or more hei's. the last several i have done, i pull the cap off and mark the where the dizzy is pointing.
then ill pull the dist out, and set the new one in. ill pull it out a few inches and back in again, until the rotor works its way around to pointing directly at the mark. put the cap back on and fire it up... never seems to work right, some how i always seem to mess it up. not this time! worked like clock work. took 10 mins to put in, trucked fired right up... lol, i cant beleive it.

I don't think the "slot key" for the oil pump is always oriented the same in relation to the rotor from one HEI to the next. This has thrown me off in the past.

I always seem to get the timing off too, even with the rotor pointing in the same spot. Bugs the crap out of me.

I got lucky on the last one I stabbed, late medel with all the computer wiz bang stuff, stabbed the dist, fired it up, put the scanner on it....dead on.
If only i got it that close on the caddy motor. |
