Hey I got a set of hedman full length hedders for my 70 2wd with a 350 and automatic. What will I have to do to get them in. Do I need to lift the engine? Can I drop them in from the top or will the bottom be easyier?

I installed mine from the top, but I already had the starter out and all the plugs out. I have done them both ways and I think it is easier to go from the bottom. You already have to jack it up to hook up your exhaust and it gives you a change to replace the spark plugs while you are at it.

Steve, they sure look sweet!. You should bring your truck to the K-Mart parking lot tonight in Fullerton on Belair Rd. They start around 7 pm.

just finished getting the headers installed and then found out I have a blown brake cylinder......I'll need to fix that before any cruising.......Thanks for the invite Jim....BTW....the headers were not a piece of cake to install........PITA.....but got it done and sound great.......and better acceleration......

Did you install them from the bottom or from the top? I did mine from the bottom with the spark plugs removed and they went right in.

Went in from the bottom with no problems. The problems began with the left side tube hitting the lower A arm and the right side tube hitting the frame. After a little bending, all went well. Still a pain though.....I did noticed these Jet coated headers run a lot cooler than the others.....all that's left is to replace the spark plug wires and install the looms......

I got these from Summit and the part # is hed-69099 and paid $135.00. Keep in mine that I sent these out to "Jet-Hot" for the coating. Hedmen has coated headers also, but not as good. Summit wants $305.00 for their Elite Hedmens. My son had bought those and they lost the coated in 6 months. Jet-Hot, http://www.jet-hot.com/ has a 5 year warranty on the finish and lifetime on rust through. They cost me $276.00 shipped back to me finished. There are some on here that can't see spending the extra money to get the coating for headers. I kinda agree with them, but I wanted a set that I don't have to worry about painting or rusting up and heard a lot of good things about "Jet-Hot". I was too tired after the install yesterday to take pictures. I will post pictures on here later today.

They look nice. I am actually looking for a set of headers that don't hang down so far - my truck is lowered......and need the clearance.

#5 cyl spark plug is a b**ch to do. I had to put a piece of rubber hose on the tip of the plug to reach the hole in the head. Other than that, not bad on the rest of the plugs. Believe it or not, the picture is a little deceiving. They really don't hang down to bad. Although I don't know how low you're planning on going......

Drops is 4/6....there is about 6.5" of clearance...would like to keep all of that.
