Post cup holders

Someone on the board was talking about converting the ash tray to a cup holder.
Does anyone have a picture of this and how it was done?

Nope. But I have a console from a '77 JImmy in my '72. It looks exactly the same, but instead of the seat belt holder slots it has cup holders on either side of the ash tray.

I was thinking about turning my ash tray into a pull out cup holder. I haven't exactly figured out how though. Right now it is just a dream. If you come up with a good design, let us know.

If you guys figure out how to build one, let me know how you did it. I'm a non-smoker but I usually have either a cup of coffee with me or a can of pop. I need to figure something out (of course, I should get it running before I start projects like this...)

Great idea! The wifes car has something like that that just may make a great conversion. I am gong to see if I can mate the two. I have to find another toyota first as she would not like me taking hers out. Joker69

Looks like a plan! One big hole in the ashtray coming up! Another notch or two in the bottom to allow clearance for that piece of flat to swing forward when closed... I think you guys just solved a long time inconvenience.

But now where am I gonna put all my change?
