What is this plug
There is a wire with a plug hanging down on my truck on the pasenger side by the back of the block and the front of the trans. It goes into a buch of taped up wires so I dont want to cut into all of it. Can any of you tell what it is? My truck is a 70 with a 350, th350, air, and has all the guages and they all work.

TCS(Temperature Controlled Spark)
TCS kills vacuum to the distributor vacuum advance unit unless the transmission is in high gear or when the engine is cold or starting to overheat - the pass. side sender tells the TCS system what the engine temperature is

Do you have a vacuum switch mounted on your intake manifold that the vacuum advance hose runs through on its way from the carburetor to the distributor? If not, I don't think the connector will affect your vacuum advance.

Yes I do have a switch. It has the vacume line go into the front, one go out to the back of the carb, and another go the the vacum advance on the distributor. And it had a red and black wire going to it. So should I plug it in (where exactly) or just take all that off and run a straight hose to my advance?

My 70 6 cylinder has the same thing. The solenoid is mounted on top of the intake in front of the carb. I just left it in place, and routed the vac line around it.

the solenoid is only held on by 1 screw .... then lift up on it and it should slide off once you reach the keyway

Ya I ran a vacum line straight to it and by-passed it and it runs so much better. And accelerates quicker and smoother.
