I Heard On Here Somewhere That You Can Use A Lowering Block On A Trailing Arm Rear End, If This Is True I Would Be Interested In A Set For My Truck If Anyone Can Give Me Any Information I Would Appreciate It...

You can use up to a 2 inch lowering block on trailing arm suspension. Anything bigger and the u-bolts start getting real close to the ground. There are quite a few vendors that have them. I think GMC Pauls carries a set. If not I will find out where my son got his. Just make sure you dont get ones for a leaf spring truck, they wont fit.

I build them out of 2x3 thick wall tubing. There are pictures on here of a set I built if you care to search them out.

i put 4 inch ones on my 67 and they drag sum so i wouldnt go that low

those look kinda like the ones i made only i put in holes for the ubolts to go though

what kind of metal did you guys use to make these out of and what were the dimensions of this block.

i used 2 inch square tubing and then just made some plates for the ends, and all i did was measure the distance of the U bolts then added an inch on either side thats how long i made em

what are the benefits of this over just a drop sping( other than cost or is that it?)

where the holes was in mine i welded in tubing kinda like the trailing arms are done just for extra suport

the block instead of a different spring keeps the ride quality stock. it's also more simple to install and cheaper to buy.

I used them because I had scrap steel and spare time. Total cost is about 30 bucks, of which the longer u-bolts are 25 of that.

Also, don't go over 2 inch drop with blocks. Any further, and the u-bolt and shock will hang below the scrub line, which is dangerous and illegal. In the picture above, the truck has 17 inch wheels and it's still close to hanging under the scrub line. Imagine what it would be like with a smaller diameter wheel or a taller block.

Cut 1 coil for a 3 inch drop. Cost is free...

NO ! the rear springs have to be bolted top and bottom with the pigtails !! DO NOT CUT THE REARS !

I used the trailer hitch reciever draw bar for some little car. they Had them on sale at Walmart just cut off the part the ball went through. they were galvanized and on sale for 1.00 each. I only had to drill one hole in each. I had bought three inch drop springs and wanted to lower it more without buying springs again. now its 4.1/2in
