Looking for transport from WA to WI

Looking for ideas / help to get an old Chevy Truck from Washington State to Wisconsin. My brother has a piece of property near Wenatchee, WA that he sold and has to get his nice 67-72 (I forgot the year exactly) truck back to WI plus a load of wood and some other misc item.

Options are real slim to none in reagrds to U-Hauls and car dolleys to haul it back not to mention the load of other stuff he needs to retreive.

Commercial carriers are way out of reach at $5,000 or so.

Not looking for a free ride, but something in the couple thousand dollar range would be ok.

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas we would like to hear them.

I'm driving from Seattle to Montana this weekend but I don't really have a way to haul anything in my Honda Element...LOL! Wenatchee is off my track since I am going North first to check out my new 50th Anniversary Longhorn then East on Hwy 20.

Drive the truck and tow a rental trailer...how much stuff does he have to haul? Will it fit in a trailer and will the truck tow it?

not sure where you came up with 5000 bucks to move that truck. i paid 1500 for covered trailering of my lincoln from connecticut to seattle with a commerical carrier. must have a double load with your extras i guess.

I found this link through the website Yesterday's Tractor. It's a list of truckers who have empty rigs/trailers on long haul runs. Maybe you can match up with one to suit your needs. Good Luck.

There is a site where people go to rate the moving companies that they have used. Some will low ball an offer and then hold your goods in ransome when they arrive to get more money. I wish I could remember the site that had the ratings...it was very scary reading! I would try to find the site through Google and see how your potential mover is rated. Just my 0.02.

I got on the internet and found one of those brokers that subs out transports that needs loads. I got my 70 flatbed from Santa Barbara to Tulsa for $700 and it was taken on a four vehicle flatbed.

Check out the internet for sure. I purchased a '67 chevy truck from Georgia and had it shipped to Indianapolis for $500. They had the truck up to me within a week. The transaction was very easy and the truck driver calls you with updates as to when to expect the truck.
I was a little scared about it at first, but it is a great and easy way to get a vehicle across the country.
