Brain Fart! How to jump starter??
Hey guys--starter solenoid seems to be bad, so I went to jump the starter today...and for the life of me I couldn't remember which two points I had to cross with the screwdriver....*think* it's one of the posts and one of the wires??? LOL! Tried just blindly crossing stuff (I know, I know) but no dice. Somebody whack me upside the head, please, I'm quite embarassed.
(and yes, the ignition key was in the on position RainDog

WHACK!!!!!
The 's' terminal and the large battery post. and it won't matter if the key is on, it just won't start up if it is off, but will (should) crank. I use needle nose pliers. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. If its a Delco type solenoid just make a connection from the battery cable post and the ignition wire post on the front of the solenoid. Just be careful not to make a ground!

LOL thanks Longhorn! I like to use the longest screwdriver I have, because I have the tendency to elecrocute or zap myself at every conceivable opportunity. (twice while rewiring the cab on my 72, didn't disconnect battery or anything first lol, once while installing new radio in same, for same reasons, etc.)

It is the ones that cause it to turn over. Just stick the screw driver down there and tap around youll find out soon enough. If it is wrong it will only spark and not turn over. Joker69

Rain dog, it is the purple wire on solenoid post(S) to battery down there will do it, lol scrub !!! you can also junp it form inside cab if you unplug the switch and use large paperclip to jump the purple port to a red one, it is very simple to steal a 67-72 vehicle, not that i have ever, you can simply unplug the switch and plug your own in and drive off with neighbors 67-72 if you wish, in less than a minute if you are quick enough at unplugging old and plugging in your switch. otherwise all you need to start truck are two paper clips

Scrub, your 100% right on being rather embarasing when you run over your self, my old '68 Cougar did that to me, then it wouldn't start. Neighbors laughin there asses off as scrawny andy (I was 16) was trying to push this thing back up in the driveway.
You know fast, I thought the same thing, just carry an ignition switch, and you can have a truck in moments. Sad huh? ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. If the solenoid is bad, jumping the "S" terminal to the bat terminal won't help much,,,this is what your ignition switch is allready doing. If jumping the solenoid starts the engine then you have other problems like neutral safety switch, ignition switch or maybe poor wiring/connections.
