trans

It is for a 1968 Chevy pickup 2 wd. Not a 4 wheel. I also bought a rollover 2001 Chevy truck with a 5.3 engine for the 68. The 2001 came with a good automatic,but I rather have a standard 5 or 6 speed. Thanks !

You can use a 5 speed from a 86-91 s-10 with a 2.5 4cyl. they had a borg warner t5 and that will bolt up to a standard bell housing, witch i have several of them, and then it will bolt up...you will need to cut a hole in the floor for the top loader..but it will work..

Thanks bisquik, See your from N.C. Wow ! N.C. is pretty country. Been there a few times. Have a friend in Cary. Anyway so I can use a S-10 T-5 trans. I have a bell housing off of a old 327. Also once when I was at a swap meet I picked up a clutch/brake pedal set up,from a old truck. But over look me,being a gal. I might be wrong. But I thought S-10 manuel trans were diffrent. Like they were built for a 4 & 6 cylinder not a V-8. Also I heard some were that the trans in all little trucks were geared lower in low & high then in full size trucks. To give them more power. But again,I really dont know. Other then the extra 5 gear, whats the diffrence in say a T-5 and a T-10. Im not a street racer, but like some I get the feelin to get into it,once in a while. And like to know it will take a little abuse. Thanks !!

This is the same T5 used in the camaro's 82-92 but is not tilted to one side,as long as you dont have 500 hp in front of it,it will be fine...and the T-10 is a 4 speed....Hope this helps,Erick
