today for the 2WD Blazer project. I ordered 4-20" x 8.5" Eagle 025 with 4-Goodyear Eagle GTII 275/45-20, with valve stems, lugs and locks for $1488 shipped to my door. Not a bad price IMO. www.bigjimsrims.com

I am hoping I can start the disassembly this weekend. There are a couple of firewall issues I will need to deal with before I take the tub off the 4WD chassis. I need to go ahead and smooth the fiewall and fix a couple of minor rust spots. I am going to go ahead and bedliner the firewall for additional insulation and noise dampening. I will be spraying a light coat, not the 3/8-1/2" typically found in a bed. I still have to order the TBI wiring harness and gather up a few sensors. Hopefully I can have most of this done by November. Business first, then play. I'd like to hit the guy that coined that phrase....

doing the math, the tires should be about 29.7 inches tall.

Here is my attempt at doing it, but I don't like my answer.

Tire sizing info to help you figure out what I am doing:
275/45-20
275 is the width of the tread in millimeters.
45 is the aspect ratio of the side wall, so in this case 45% of 275mm
20 is the wheel size (obviously)

Sidewall: 275mm x 45% = 123.75mm convert to inches = 4.87"

So you have 20" plus two sidewalls of 4.87" = 29.74" That seems taller than I thought it would be, so I think there is something I am missing. Anyone help out?

Thanks for the info. Now I have to do some measurments to see if those will fit under my Jimmy. I do like the way tall rims look on the 2WD 's.

A hair over 29" is right. I had the exact same size wheel and tire on the 68 with no problems EXCEPT this time I will run a 1/4-1/2" spacer on the rear. They very seldom rubbed the inner fender well but occasionally, they did. Other than that, they should fit. Later, Mark

No, the truck is now in the possesion of another board member in Houston. I haven't heard anything from him lately. I need to give him a call and check in and make sure ol' peachy is treating him right. My wife asked me the other day if I missed it and I said nah, there's always another behind in line to be fixed up. Thanks for all the comments on the wheels. I want to get this project over with so I can start my next LOOONNNNGGGG term project.......the 68 Camaro. Later, Mark

Just a reminder, after putting the body on, I only have 1/4" clearance between the tire and the inner fender well. These are the exact same size wheel,tire and backspacing I had on my 68.
