I need help with patch panels - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi i have a couple of questions for the experts, i am a rookie here. I am going to get my truck cleaned up and repainted after my Fire accident. I noticed some small rust in some areas and other places i am not too sure off. Here are a couple of pics.

is this the part i need? If so how hard is this for the body shop to do? I dont even see where this would go into another part.

Here are my rocker panels. I bought some new ones on line.

what about my floors, should i get these done too?

i am just not sure about the rear back of the cab, those are the ones that do not look that hot, Any help would be great. Thanks.

that's one of the parts you'll need to cure cancer on your truck. just use scrap metal on the floorpan hole unless the surrounding metal is worse than it looks. you need to make a lip on that rocker for the weather stripping to attatch, or you could section a new rocker panel just for the back upper section because the rest looks good.

So for that rear patch, do they cut a hole and weld this one into place? Do they patch it up with bondo or something?

From what I can tell the crack you see is from a large amount of Bondo.
What the shop should do is use the filler piece you showed in the first thread and cut out the entire same section of the other cab corner and weld it back into place.
I have no idea how much things cost as I am in the process of doing it myself.
You can follow my thread of replacing rusted rocker panels that I just completed today for the passengers side. Still got a ways to go on my welding skills but I think I am doing allright.
Good luck with what ever path you choose.
