73-87 seat conversion?

Can a bench seat from an 81 GMC 4wd fit right into my 72 2wd. I hate to take it out (its in a junkyard) if It won't bolt right in. Or can it be modified easily. Thanks
Rivernut

It takes mods with a torch and a welder to get them to bolt into the 67-72 holes and sit at the proper height. I don't know if the entire 67-72 slider assembly will bolt onto the base of the 73-87 seat...it was easier for me to just weld additional pads onto the modified 73-87 sliders.

The floor in a 73 - 87 is no where near being flat. Onless it'll bolt onto your 72's track, it will not be anything close to a simple bolt in.

you could always just drill new holes in the floor

Thanks guys,
I think I am going to take it out and find out just how much screwing around I have to do. It only cost 15 bucks and is worth my time to see how much modifying I have to do. I own a welder, so it's no big deal.

If you drill new holes make sure you use a renforcement plate on each one. Other wise the bracket could rip out the floor

No need to drill new holes...just make these four pads and drill them to fit the 67-72 seat holes, heat the mounts on the 73-87 seat and bend them down so they are 90 degrees to the bottom of the seat, then weld them to the flat pads. Here is a shot of the drivers side rear of the seat that I finished a while back.
