How rare is a C-40?

I found a fellow the other day that has a C-40 left over from a coal business his family used to have. I've not looked at it closely yet but it appears to be complete. Did they build many of these and how rare are they?

Not rare at all, I've seen quite a few around here. What you should do is check to see if it has a tach or vac gauge, those are rare and go for good $$$ to the right person.

What year is it?I`ve hardly ever seen a C/40.Most of the med.duties where C/50 and C/60.

Basically the C40's were just a little heavier than one ton C30's. You could even get the 5 lug front, 10 lug rear on some special order C30's like this one:
