Where can I find the Tach to fit my Cluster?
Would like to add the RPM tach for my cluster.
Where could I find one? Don't want to add an aftermarket Tach...prefer to keep it more original...here's a pic of my cluster Thx, T.C |

check at your local junk yards or at swap meets. I bought a complete tach dash with wiring harnes for 125.00 at a swap meet.

Do you want one just to have one, or do you want to actually know what RPM your engine is running.
If it is just to have one, then you'll end up overpaying for one onless you get real lucky and score on at the junk yard. If you actually want to know what your engine is doing, get an aftermarket one. The original tachs weren't all that acurate when new, and are even worse 30+ years later. They don't even go to the engine's redline. |

ORIGINAL TACH ??
I've got a couple of used original tachs "in the rafters". anything from "for parts" to working tachs with complete bezels and wiring harnesses. Like "longhornmail" says , they usually arent that accurate. BUT they do look cool!

i used a stewart warner tach. it fit almost perfectly. Completely covers the hole. The only part that sticks out is the chrome ring on the front.

Your dash cluster and a tach dash cluster are different in several respects--plastic lense, plastic printed circuit board, mounting housing. The bezel is identical. You could probably pick up a complete tach dash off e-bay for around $200. You could probably find one from a member for less. They are far more common on larger trucks, sometimes with air pressure or vacuum guages too. They came as both 6cyl and 8cyl but in reality, all you need to do is turn a screw in the back to adjust for either. The wiring harness for the Tach is nothing more then two wires with slide connectors on them.
They do look cool and give some indication of rpm but as Andy says, they are far from accurate. Good luck~~~~`Huck |

the sun-tach II fits perfect. all you have to do is take apart your cluster and cut a hole in the plastic for it. i ended up sawin it in half and cuttin straight lines cuz the plastic is so fragile, cracks really easy. but the tach fits so snug in the hole you dont have to attach it to anything

dont forget the commonplace 75-81 camaro tachs, they read little higher and loo 90% same as ours and are same size and all and are for HEI
not sure why ppl overlook these.,, is a great tach to get and use, i got my ast 75-81 tacxh dash from a 77 or so LT-type(or something like that model) silver camaro, if i was building a 67-72 dash then id be using that tach for sure, a few members here have one in theirs,. good luck |

i over look it becouse it is still inacurate, and it does not look stock to me.
