Turn signals behind grill help
Could someone explain to me ,or show me a picture of, how these lights fit in. I just bought some 83-87 style lights that fit behind the grill. My truck is an 81 but I switched to the newer style bumper therefore must also switch to the turn signals.
I'm about reduced to drilling/cutting holes in the rad support to make room for the back of them and screwing a piece of wood into the center of the grill to hang them. Save me before I make a mess. Thanks, Matt

Matt, I'm not a big supporter of taiwan aftermarket stuff, but you can buy the single headlight style(two headlights total) 85-87 grill for about $30 new and it will have the mounting correct for those signal lights. With the cheap version there is nothing else to buy . The more expensive silverado style grille has a lot of gingerbread to buy to make it complete. I am also not a big fan of 81-82 style grilles so i always did that conversion on the trucks i fixed up. I bet some here on the forums had one they removed to install a custom grille and it's just gathering dust in the back of their garage. I think its the only kind I DONT have here right now. the rad support uses the same part # and the newer grilles sit outward just enough that you dont have to hack any holes.
Time to run a WANTED GRILLE ad here. the 88-89 blazer & burb is the same as the 85-87 pickup. good luck, DAVE

I paid $23 or $24 for the repro grill in mine. I might actually install it one of these days...

I think I maybe reduced to buying the newer style grill, what year gmc would be thinner or set out further and fit the lights? I'm getting all my parts from a junkyard that also can get new parts from a company called cross canada body parts, which remakes all the different grills, a picture of the grill would also be helpful so I can be sure of what I am ordering.
My 85 truck has the exact same grill (no thinner looks exact same sits in the exact same position) and the single headlight setup but I like the quad light look. Sorry to be asking so many questions. Thank you for your help. Matt

GMC I'm not sure. I always convert to CHEVY grille. not fond of GMC grille either, just not my taste!. still should be 85-87 and 85- 88 off burb or blazer.
Confused by your last statement. but if U R trying to convert to Quad lights you have WAY bigger issues to deal with. DAVE
