Do I need brake booster brackets

Have power brake booster painted and ready to install with one question. I see alot of guys not installing the side and lower bracket. Can I ditch them also without issues? Was chevrolet over cautious on this? Any thoughts? I'd rather NOT use them.

I have wondered the exact same thing. I got all my stuff off a truck in a 'yard. I got it all installed and tried to make the brackets fit. I could not get the danged things to fit. I don't know if they drilled holes or what, but no matter how I moved them around (I even went back to the 'yard to look at another truck with power brakes) I could not get them to work. I did drill a hole to install the side bracket, but I could never even get the lower bracket to line up with the firewall. I installed a '71 booster on a '67 cab. I don't really know if you need 'em or not.

If you use yor truck alot and don't have those brackets you may crack your firewall due to the booster and MC vibrating. They were originally installed for a reason.

I am assuming that you are talking about the two brackets that go from the firewall to the booster/master cylinder. Isn't the booster that has the two brackets from a 3/4 ton truck? These brackets are not on a 1/2 ton truck. (At least that is what I have seen with the two 1/2 tons, one 3/4 ton, and one 1 ton trucks I have...

The 1/2 ton trucks have one bracket, and the 3/4 tons have 2 brackets, and yes I do use them on my truck, like said earlier that's a fair amount weight with the booster and master cylinder just dangling there, I would go as to say gm did their research and figured they do serve a purpose. So Im going with that..

Brackets

I think they started using them in 71. There are some differences in the length of the flat bracket. I think some 3/4 or 1 tons are longer.
