Question Newbie Aid

Hey guys whats up? I just purchased a 1968 GMC fleetside longbox, 3 on the tree, with a 350, 98,000 Orig. Miles. Runs good, coils and drums all around. Came with a driver door, windows need to switched over, and it came with 2 good fenders. Although the ones on the truck are good. Inner fenders are good. Box has one bad spot along the passenger fender. Driver side rocker cancerious, along with part of the floor along the door sill driver side. To add to the list is both outer cab corners. Besides that its a running and complete. I paid 800$ through a friend. I thought that was a good price.

Qustion one - what have i gotten myself into? cab wise. Im not the best welder, but i do see factory replacement corners, rockers etc. Am i just better off searching for a cab? i dont mind the work, but im no pro, willing to learn tho.

Question two - I caught the jist of a few little tricks with the trucks, ie. Seats from late model chevy's. What about power steering? can u adapt other chevy PS to a 68? disc brakes/ columns?

Any input for this newbie would be great!! thnx
Just finished a mustang and came across this deal, i couldnt say no after a little research.

800 loonies sounds like a good enough deal to me...whats that, 600 and some odd american?
Look on the FAQ board...most of the things you just asked are listed on there... tilt column from a van that looks 99% original, front disc brakes, and I think a couple body work threads too.
IMO, I would probably stick with the cab you have there. It sounds better than my 'GOOD' cab.
Persoanlly, I'd skip on the 90's seat, they sit too high IMO.
Here is what I did...

I don't remember the E-bay seller's name .. but I hope some one on here does. I only paid 65 bones (american) for both...shipped to my door.

And also, welcome to the board. EVERYTIHG you'll ever want to know is on here... or will be as soon as you ask.

Difficult? seems like a pretty straight forward swap.
For the fenders, let me get my sh*t together and yeah i dont see why i would need it.

Welcome from Saskatoon. Sounds like you got a good deal at 800 bucks. The floor, corners, rockers, etc are all repairable. If you are diy guy and have the tools it's just time a few hundred dollars worth of patch panels. Many items are upgradable from newer generations of trucks and as said faq has quite a bit. If there is something you want to try just ask as some member has probably tried it before you. As for looking for another cab good luck. Most of the ones I find up here have all of the standard rust. You'd need to find one already restored by somebody else.
