Chevy rack & pinion

You Guys that have changed out your 67-72 steering over from the stock GM box to a power rack & pinion set up. How do you like it ? Seems like you should notice a lot diffrence in the steering. Can you ? I'm guessing most of you are using the unit from a early model 80s Ford. Looking at a Ford in the junk yard seems like all you have to do to mount it,is to weld on a couple taps for the rack to bolt up to. Not sure about the steering column shaft. What you do, ad a few u-joints and shaft between the column and the rack ? Should not be that hard to fab up. Any Info will be grateful.
