It's givin' me fits...

Ok, I like the 67-68 hood line better than my 69 GMC and want to change.

I don't mind changing grill components, even going to a Chevy grill.

I am told that 69 GMC fenders will work with the 67-68 hood.

I am also told that I will need to change the whole front clip.

What do I have to do to get the 67-68 look that I want?
Can I use my fenders?

I'm getting conflicting information and would appreciate your help.

GMC fenders will work with 67/68 grill. Fender interchange as follows:

1. 67 Chev and 67 GMC(no marker lights)

2. 68 Chev and 68 to 72 GMC(with markers)

3. 69 to 72 Chev

To change from 69 GMC to 67/68 Chev you need the following:

1. 67/68 Chev hood

2. 67/68 Chev grill with 68 Chev park lights(67 will not plug into 69 harness)

3. 67/68 Chev core support

4. 67/68 Chev center grill support with hood latch.

I think this is all you need. You can use your GMC wiring harness by either just not using the high beam lamp socket or cutting the high beams extensions off.

Any one think of any thing I missed?

Good luck - Bob

yes, you can use your fenders, you can even use your grille if you wanted to.......67 fenders are 67 fenders, 68 chevy and 68-72 GMC fenders are the same, and 69-72 chevy fenders have their own little world . you will have to take the eyebrow moldings off of your fenders, and you'll have some small holes to fill from that, and the trim piece that lines up with the eyebrows is just pop-riveted on, once you take that off you just need the 67-8 hood latch assembly, maybe a 67-8 core support, not too sure on this part....and your new hood.

If you want to keep it a GMC all you need is a 67-68 hood, GMC grill top bar,and hood latch. If you want to change it to a chevy front, then you will also have to change the core support, grill, and wiring harness. The fenders from your 69 GMC will work either way. Woody

Thanks to all, good information.
Blue, I think I have a local line on a hood and grill but I may need the grill support and center brace. PM me if you like with info.

I'll have to decide whether to stay GMC or go Chevy.
The curse of my life is too many options.

This is all good to know...
I really like the slope of the 67-68 hood as well.
I have a 69 GMC and knowing that I have this option now is good. I had contacted Goodmark about their hoods and they seem to have given me wrong info.
Thanks for asking and thanks to all those who answered...

Things I've learned from my truck...If I was an automaker, my vehicles would be overpriced, run rough, and get 5MPG.

Thanks for the encouragement to keep it GMC, which also seems to be the easiest way to go. I think the 69 is a little heavy with chrome and I'm glad to loose the eyebrows.
Woody, I'll have to check out what you mean by the GMC grill top bar and see if I can find a latch assembly.
Again thanks to all. Philip
