New 60 - 66 member
Hey guys! I'm new at this, but have been an avid fan of the 60 - 66 Chevy C10's forever. I just bought a 65', my first, and I'm totally stoked about it. I have some questions for the experts on the board, first I want to take off the ugly 30.5's that are on it now and drop a little height and add some muscle look with some wider and lower meats. I'm considering BF 295/50R15's for the back, that would drop me almost 2'' in the back, but in the front I was think about 275/50R15's. This would give me a little rake to the front, droping the front over 2''. Does anyone think the fronts would be too wide? Front and back rims are both 9".
Also, I'm wanting to to spruce up the rims. I don't have enough $$$ for high dollar rims, I thought I would pretty up the rally's on it. I have the same rallys as in the picture I'm attaching here, but I can't find the center caps the same as in the pic. I can only find them with 4X4 on them in the 6 lugs. Any idea's? Thanks in advance and happy to be joining.... Ron. Last edited by ronwil19; 09-20-2005 at 07:42 AM. |

Just for your info, that is not a '65. That is a '67 or '68 model. Nice truck though! Have an administrator here move this to the 67-72 threads and you'll get alot more responses.

Hey Vortex,
That's not my truck, though it is nice, I just used the pic so you guys could see what kind of center caps I was looking for. Does anyone know what kind of center caps they used (If any) on 64 - 66 rally wheels for these trucks. I'm not even sure if they did. I'm just trying to use what I have for now, and those are what came on it, except it's missing one and the others are pretty rough. |

dime a dozen at the wreckers and they look great Ive got em on my 67 , and I used the same ones on my 64 only in 5 lug too.

I don't think the front size will be too wide, when I bought My 63 short step it had 60's front and rear, the one's on the front knocked the crap out of the front end parts though!!

concider that you probably have a 3.73 rear gear and if you put too short of tire on it you will be turning 3000 rpms on the interstate.

Thanks...
Hey guys, thanks for the input. Hey slammed, that looks like a sweet ride! I think I'm gonna go with the 275's on the front, because my 6 lug looks pretty flat with equal sized tires on it, not like yours slammed. I still can't find those center caps anywhere. I keep finding them with 4X4 logos's on them, but none with the bowtie. If anyone runs across a set, please let me know.
Thanks for the welcome Demmit! Ron. Last edited by ronwil19; 09-21-2005 at 11:50 AM. |

Another pic
Here's a link to a truck that has the exact same rims I have. These are the center caps and rings that I need.
http://207.44.196.117/vboard/showthread.php3?t=136858 It's the truck at the very bottom of the page. I tried to save the pic and upload it here but it said it was too big. Last edited by ronwil19; 09-21-2005 at 12:46 PM. |

ronwil19, The center caps that you are looking at are probably 73-87 4x4 rear center caps. Just peel the 4x4 emblem out of the center, clean up the adhesive thats left on the cap, go to your local Chevrolet dealer or some aftermarket suppliers (Try the board vendors ) and buy a set of Bowtie emblems to put back in the center. I've done this a couple of times. Just be sure to center the Bowtie emblems on the center cap, because some of them are smaller that the 4x4 emblem that was originally on the cap. Good Luck and welcome to the board from Louisiana! Kevin

ronwil19 The caps you keep refering to , Ie the exact same ones on the blue stepside above are 91-98 chevy 3/4 tons center caps. they are even easier to find in mint shape thatn the original 73-87 sytle and they dont have holes in the center and they have the bowtie. the dont have bolt going thru the front either so they are alot cleaner looking
they can be found in the junk yard CHEAP , I paid 17 dollars for my set of centers here they are on my 67 in 6 lug, and you've seen em in 5 lug on my baby blue 64 above

Hey Slammed
Hey Slammed, Thanks a ton for the info. Are the trim rings and rims off the same, 91-98'?
Thanks again. Ron |
