Seeking input on lift/tires
Hello. I have recently obtained a 1983 Chevy K20 standard cab long bed 4x4. I believe that it is a "Camper Special" as it has a little teepee emblem on the cab pillar. It appears to have a 14 bolt Corporate rearend, and I think it has a D60 up front. It has a 350, with a 4 speed auto (700r4 - ?). I believe that the Camper Special came with a 4:10 rearend, but have not checked for sure. This truck is very close to original, as I bought it from the fire department that ordered it new and used it to haul a water tank to brush fires.
I want to build the suspension up to add large tires and make it a play in the mud/hunting truck. My buddy has a 1985 K20 with a 350 and granny low 4 speed. He is running a 4" Rough Country lift, and 35/14.5/16 Boggers on 16x12 rims. His Boggers scraped the front fenders at full lock, so he trimmed them back a little. I'd like to run that size tire, or perhaps up to 38s. Would a 6" lift get me there without having to trim the fenders? How would that size tire work with my engine/tranny and axle ratio combination? Thanks in advance. Bud

2 the board from west 10-uh-c
6" will get you 35's w/ no issues, 38's might be pushing it, maybe go 6" lift and add a 2" body lift, on that body style a 2" body lift will not be that bad looking unlike on a 67-72
