front lower control arm on 69

do i have to cut the steering stop/bump stop down to give me more room or not. i took the springs out and im about 8 inches off the ground well im going to run 3inch drop spindles and do a 3 1/2 z but where i do get the 1 1/2 from if i cut the steering stop i think i can get it, i need help thanks

With a spindle drop, & or Z the frame you wont need to cut the bump stops off the lower arms. If you plan to use a shorter spring, or my guess (bag it & lay the body), yes you will gain some clearance by cutting the bump stops off L

well im putting bags on it and i need 1 1/2 more clearence so what im saying is, is it ok to take the bump stop/steering stop off?

IMHO, you should have some sort of steering stop. I would torch the complete works of the lower arm, then you can fab the steer stop......you will no doubt need to trim a portion of the outer bottom lip of the crossmember for clearance to lay it tho. my 69 has a 3" shorter spring(cut coil), minus the bump stop, but still has the steer stop, with a stiffener plate on the backside. I use a traction bar "snubber" for the bumpstop, but the steer stop will bottom on the outside corner of the crossmember across the bad potholes in Illinios. Best of luck...... L

You should relocate the stops. If you are bagging and using drop spindles you may have to fabricate some stops. I used part of the original and fabed part of it.
