How to tweak frame?
I need to flare up the driver's side of my frame the same as it's done in this picture on the passenger side...use a torch and hammer? Anyone got a god technique for working on a frame to do this that will make it look "nice and stock" when it's done?

i'd cut away for clearance then reinforce that area with a boxinng plate for strength// to bend out a clearance notch like that will require ALOT of heat and you run the risk of warping the frame

No welder. I'm broke, no money to really buy one. The best I could do would be to cut out the piece and bolt it in until it's running, but the chances of getting it welded once the engine is in are probably nil. :\

You know something, my frame has this rise factory! What year frame are you working on and what was the original engine/trans application?
The first pic here is from a BB C/20 frame... 2nd pic here is an underside view from my Longhorn. You will see the close proximity for the fuel pump area

I would guess that you will need to reinforce the side frame walls inside and outside prior to heating and bending so that the original steel and the shape of the C-wall will not move nor distort...A port-a-power? maybee????

I have torched that pc out on a couple trucks,& never saw a problem.....if you are worried about it, you can "button weld" a pc of 1/4" flatstock on the bottom side for a stiffener. There really shouldnt be that much stress in that area.......the other side with the steering box is another story tho. best of luck, L

I suppose you could measure the width of the bend and sabersaw the end to end lines then bend it up then reweld what you cut...just a thought!
