I have a '72 blazer. I bought it with these nifty saddle tanks that sit below the front seats.

Unfortunatley, The installers felt it nescessary to hack out the rocker boxes to make the tanks fit.

So, the problem is that if I go wheeling, or get any one wheel just a tad higher than the others,

I start having issues with getting out of the truck. These doors are closed solid. If you try to open them, they wont, but when the body twists the other way, they pop open.

Nice huh?? If I had the top on it still, it adds some structual help, but the top is only fiberglas, and is showing fatigue already.... I need some better cross members.

This concludes this lesson on why rocker boxes are important.

Hmmm, full rollcage tied to the frame would stiffen that right up. Great looking K5 btw.

i think i would take it back to the people that put the tanks in and make them fix it

i also agree with Yukon Jack on the cage being tied to the frame

Is that on the rubicon??????? BTW my blazer does that to maybe not as bad but none the less it does it ... With solid rocker boxes..

These trucks have flimsy frames anyways. As far as going back to the shop who put them in, I would have to find out who did it first, then prove they did the work, meanwhile find the recipt for work that I would guess is at least 5 years old....

A cage tied into the frame is in this trucks future. Not shure how soon, but soon enough. Poly body bushings, shims, and better cross members are on the grocery list for now. I will have to live with it dukes of hazzard style for now.

[edit] Yes, that was on the slabs on the rubicon, right after the spillway. I live about an hour from there. 20 minutes on the freeway, the rest on icehouse road. My truck is not ready to venture much further than that, the gatekeeper will have to wait till I get my first dent, and some rocker protection.

Dude that's a LOT of flex. It looks like a combination of new rocker boxes, a roll cage and a more flexable suspension is needed....
