Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

mine doesnt really have a problem with bottoming out. usually the only thing that hits is the exhaust and headers. they are hooker competitions.

I have a 4/6 and was hitting the headers on speed bumps and etc. Got tired of exhaust leaks and took them off. Now I have ram horns from a Chev Dealer that sells performance stuff and got a set of horns with a 2 1/2 exhaust opening for 99.00 a side. Got 2 1/2 all the way back and no more leaks. Had the exhaust boys tuck the exhaust up with in the frame so there is no ugly exhaust visible.

I took off headers & put on a stock manifold on my 6cyl & then had the exhaust tucked up close to the bottom of the floorpans.

No bottoming out issues. The tires do buzz the tops of the fenderwells up front if I hit a big dip in the road @ high speed. At the ride height in the pic, I have towed my 74 swb truck on my 18ft steel floor car hauler w/o issue (other than the 6cyl/3spd struggling to pull the weight uphill).

Are you guys able to get your trucks aligned being that low? I'm assuming you are using the stock upper control arms. The only reason I ask is when i took mine to get aligned the guy said if it was any lower he wouldn't have been able to get the settings within spec.

How tall are you guy's front tires? I'm running a 26" tall tire with a 4.5" drop up front (2.5" spindles & 2" coils) and I have to be careful on the roads around here to keep from dragging my LCA's on the ground. They hit before my bump stop comes into contact with the crossmember.

????

i don't know how your trucks look so low with such little drop. mine has 3 in springs 2.5 spindles and out back it has 6" springs with a 3" body drop all around. here is what it looks like.of coarse it will set down in the front with the motor and body but i would think it would not be mutch lower than the rest posted here???

This is what my truck really looks like, in case you were referring to my "enhanced" version for my avatar.

I have a 3.5 front drop and the guy at GM said I would have camber/caster issues if it was any lower.

If he knew what to do, you wouldn't have problems. Both of my 'drivers' are @ least 5" front drops & aligned w/o any drama. The key factor is using drop spindles or changing the location of the a-arm mounting points vs. the main frame rails (z-ing the frame, notching the c-member, etc...).
